As most of you know, we’re canceling our regularly scheduled November DIGs to join forces with Nashville Business Journal’s “Crash Course on Marketing” on Wednesday, November 16th at Lipscomb University.

The Nashville Business Journal is bringing together some of the top minds around the area to give a half day crash course on all things marketing. In fact, our very own Head Carpenter, Tim Earnhart, will be sharing a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to develop a solid brand.

You can visit NBJ’s website to see the full line up & purchase tickets for the crash course here>

But….. NBJ has given us 2 free tickets to the crash course & since you all have been so awesome about DIGGING into various marketing topics this year, we wanted to give them to you (and have a little fun at the same time).

At the DIGs we do most of the talking. Now, it’s your chance to share.

And since we’re all about using the right tools to build a brand here at Werkshop, we thought we’d get your input on the tools you’re using….

Here’s how it works:

1) Head over to our Facebook Page & leave your answer to the following question on our wall.

What is one tool you can’t live without? Why?

You can answer it any way you want…

“My laptop because it’s my livelihood.”

“My RSS Feed because it’s the main way I get information about changes in the industry.”

“My palm pilot because I always want to remember what doing business was like in 1995.”

….. However you want to answer the question.

2) You can submit an answer as many times as you want.

All answers must be submitted by Thursday, November 10th, at 5 pm CST.

3) The best two answers will be selected by a panel of Werkshop Judges.

Winners will be notified on Friday, November 11th. Each winner will receive 1 ticket.

We look forward to hearing your thoughts on marketing’s most important tools.

Whether you win or not, we hope to see you at NBJ’s Crash Course November 16th. Trust us, you’ll be walking away information to process for days.

Good luck!

Last week, our team had the opportunity to take part in the Art & Business Council of Greater Nashville’s Artworks event. It really was a great chance for us to get out of the office and show off some of our other skills. Check out our artwerk….

So why are we telling you about this? One reason is that we wanted to let you know how great of a time we had at Art Works (if your company wasn’t involved this year, you should definitely join us next year….. especially if you’re artistically gifted). But the second, and probably the most important reason is to congratulate our own Laura Mosley for winning Critic’s Choice 2nd place. Is that worthy of another “passing of the hammer“? We think so.

Thanks again to the Art & Business Council for allowing us to participate. Check out some of the other winners in the press release from ABC:

Arts & Business Council ARTWORKS winners announced

NASHVILLE , TN. – The Mall at Green Hills came alive last night for the Arts & Business Council’s (ABC) ArtWorks, the annual art exhibit and reception inspiring corporate creativity and camaraderie. ArtWorks invited companies to show off their team’s creativity and enter up to ten pieces of original artwork created by their employees. These Nashville businesses then competed to win Critic’s Pick and People’s Choice Awards.

This year, the Nashville restaurant community was added to the mix with the Jack Daniels Paint the Town Jack competition. Nearly 50 restaurants and wine & spirit shoppes, each painted a 34” statue of Jack Daniels for the “Jack” portion of the competition.

The ArtWorks Critic’s Pick judges were Shelley Liles McBurney, Ted Clayton and Walter Knestrick. It was the ArtWorks guests who voted for their favorite company and individual artists to win thePeople’s Choice Awards.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WERKSHOP MARKETING ACQUIRES PR DIVISION OF CABEDGE
Firms to Focus on Core Strengths

Nashville, Tenn., (December 16, 2010)- Werkshop Marketing and cabedge.com, LLC are proud to announce a recent transition that will allow the two companies to separately focus on their core strengths.

Werkshop Marketing, with offices in Nashville, Tenn., and Bowling Green, Ky., recently acquired the PR Division of cabedge. As a result, the company is expanding its services beyond marketing strategy, branding, advertising, creative, social marketing and web design. This move included the addition of Samantha Owens as the VP of Communications Strategy, Rachel Donahue and Becca Ary as Account Executives, and Amanda Butler as Assistant Account Executive. Each will be based in the Nashville office, but will also serve the company’s regional clients. All web-focused employees will remain at cabedge and include web strategists, content developers designers, programmers and project managers.

“cabedge started nearly 10 years ago with a passion to build beautiful, usable interactive experiences. Over the years, we have evolved beyond the ‘pretty picture’ websites and now provide our clients with strategies and tools that help them communicate with their online customers more efficiently.” says Chris Blanz, CEO, cabedge. “The decision to regain focus, and transition the PR Division was not one that came lightly, but one that made sense for everyone involved.”

“This decision will enable our two companies to grow in our respective fields,” said Tim Earnhart, Principal, CEO and Creative Director, Werkshop Marketing. “And when given the opportunity in the future, this move will give Werkshop and cabedge the opportunity to strategically align ourselves as partners, rather than competitors.”
Werkshop Marketing was created in October of 2009, and was the result of the merging of Fresh Dirt Marketing of Nashville and Earnhart + Friends Advertising of Bowling Green. The creation of Werkshop Marketing enabled Fresh Dirt CEO, Holly Grenvicz and Earnhart + Friends Advertising CEO, Tim Earnhart to strategically align their two companies, which before the merger, partnered on projects, but separately operated as one, a marketing strategy company, and the other as a creative firm.

“The move to add the cabedge PR team to Werkshop is the next step in fully aligning Werkshop Marketing as a full-service agency,” said Holly Grenvicz, Principal and Chief Strategist. “Having the four new employees on our team will give us the ability to bring our clients marketing campaigns full circle by offering all PR and promotions services they might need in order to tell the world their story.”

About Werkshop Marketing:
