R. Justin Shepherd — Senior Copywriter

Justin’s last name is Shepherd, spelled just like the word, and he hails from Shepherdsville. He’s a direct descendant of the town’s founder, and comes from a long line of elected law enforcement officials. He left the world of journalism for marketing, but may well return to his hometown someday; he’d be a shoo-in for jailer and a serious contender for mayor. At Werkshop, he writes everything from TV scripts to tender sonnets, but he never seems to be at his desk when you really need him.

Home life: Justin and his wife, Shelley, live in Bowling Green, Ky. They have two sons — 3-year-old Lewis Christian and 1.5-year-old Owen Andrew — and an unwanted but undaunted possum living underneath their 100-year-old home.

Likes: Dostoyevsky, Indian food (the hotter the better), the 5-9-10 spots in “Settlers of Catan”

His other life: In his spare time, Justin owns and operates Spencer’s Coffeehouse in Bowling Green. He’s working on two television pilots, attempts to read at least a couple of books a month, and wishes more people would use the word “loquacious.” He considers himself an expert iPhone photographer and an adequate dresser, and is slowly learning how to use power tools to his advantage.
